This summer Croatia could be the top destination for Austrians and Germans. In the last couple of days, one can see this statement in different media in both Austria and Germany. If you ask me timely measures that Croatia has taken will pay off this season.
Croatia is the top destination in Austria
Austrian portal oe24 has published the article where they suggest what could be a potential vacation destination this year, and in the first place is Croatia. In this article, they also mentioned that Austrians can forget about the most popular destinations like Italy and Spain.
“Croatia is offering the best chances for vacation. Croatians want to let tourists into the country and Croatian prime minister has already talked about it with some Austrian colleagues, including chancellor Sebastian Kurz!” it is stated.
Kurz has also twitted about his talks with Croatian prime minister Plenkovic.
Apart from other beauties and advantages that spending vacation in Croatia brings, one of the most important advantages mentioned in this article is the possibility to travel to Croatia by car. It is still difficult to predict how soon will air transportation come to normal. Austrians would still be able to travel to Slovakia and Germany, and of course to spend their holidays in their home country.
Croatia to save holidays for Germans
Bild, the most famous newspaper in Germany also sees Croatia as one of the top destinations this year for holidays. Croatia has found itself among 8 countries, together with Greece, Austria, Switzerland, Tunisia, Sweden, Denmark, and Iceland. Above mentioned countries are mentioned as countries that have successfully implemented anti Koronavirus measures.
“This country plans to advertise as a “corona free” for this summer season. Croatia has put in place strict measures to fight the virus in a timely manner. It was a decision that paid off. The Ministry of Tourism with health experts is preparing a plan that will soon make it possible to open the country to tourists”, Bild stated.
If you have asked me 2 months ago if measures taken by the Croatian government are justified, I would have probably said no. Today my opinion is totally different. Coronavirus was more or less under control from the very beginning. Other countries like Austria and Germany are also aware of this fact, and they appreciate it. That is why Germans and Austrians see Croatia as the top destination this year for holidays. No doubt pre-season was very bad, but things should start to pay off soon enough.
