Coronavirus crises also hit Istria, but what are the things which await you after the Corona crisis? Unfortunately, I was wrong 1 month ago when there were still no infected in Istria. Like anywhere in Europe this has changed, and the whole world has stopped.

What I am certain about is that something good has to come out of all this. Medical care has to improve worldwide, and people have to become aware of the impact we have on our planet. We owe this to all tragically deceased people all over the world.

I don´t know about you, but I can´t wait for the moment when I will be able to drive to Istria and smell that beautiful Mediterranean air again. Pour my self glass of Malvazija and put some olive oil on freshly baked bread. I know that you know all this, but let me remind you once again what awaits you in Istria when all this tragedy is over.

Beautiful Adriatic sea

Adriatic sea is still among the clearest seas worldwide, and Corona will not change this, on the contrary. We are witnesses of how nature is recovering itself as long as people are pushed back a bit. Adriatic sea could only get more recovered. There are already many blue flag beaches in Pula, and I hope there will be more once this all is finished. Many new dolphins have also been spotted across the coast.

Sunshine

For sure all of us will be missing sunshine and lying carelessly under the Sun. After weeks, hopefully not months in our flats, we will be missing Sun more than ever. Our bodies will need vitamin D, but also our mental health should be recovered. We should never underestimate the power and healing possibilities of the Sun. Istria with many sunny days during the summer will be our right medicine.

Beaches

Seriously, can you imagine anything better than lying somewhere on the beach after this quarantine? Me for sure not. There are dozens to choose from. But why not just try them all? Olive oil

Did you know that Istria’s olive oils are one of the best ones in the world? This Mediterranean climate with warm summers and mild winters is exactly what they need. Olive oil tree is also one of the symbols of Istria. You can even find one tree next to the house’s swimming pool. We take care special of our tree, and if you will be in the house in October, you are more than welcome to help us with picking up the fruits. We strongly recommend that you visit the famous Alley of Olive trees in Fazana.

Truffles

One more thing which awaits you in Istria after the Corona crises is truffles. They are quite common for the central part of Istria. Locals call this part the Truffles Bermuda triangle. This name comes from the fact that they could be found in forests between the cities Pazin, Buje, and Buzet. Every year there is also a Truffles festival that starts in September and finishes in November. Many excellent restaurants are located in Motovun, a magnificent city we have already written about.

Heritage

There is no question about it, but some of the most beautiful cities are located in Istria. From Galizana is very easy to reach all of them. Pula is closest. In Pula, you can find Pulska Arena, an amazing amphitheater as beautiful as the one in Rome. Fazana is also very close to Galizana. Fazana is a very beautiful nice fisherman city. From there you can also visit Croatian National Park Brijuni. Many beautiful cities worth mentioning are Bale, Rovinj, Porec, and Novigrad. There you can find many amazing churches and buildings in the Mediterranean style.

Festivals

Where there are countless things to do in Istria, especially during the summer period. Every place on the coast has its traditional fisherman nights. Galizana for instance has Festival od Puzi (snails festivals) where you can find traditional dishes prepared from snails. Biggest movie festivals take place in Pula and Motovun. There are also many concerts in Arena. It is quite common to see the greatest music stars there like Elton John or Tom Jones.

People

Mentioned at the end, but actually should be in the first place. The most important things which await you in Istria after the Corona crises are people. People are what makes certain places special, and Istrian people are no exception, generous and temperament like all Mediterenians. It is no secret that Istrians live from tourism, and they will do everything to make you one of the regular guests. In these Corona times, everyone is scared of what will happen with the following tourist season. I am sure that local people after all this will give more than 100% to make their guests happy.
